Ranking: Bonn is one of the most international universities in Germany
The University of Bonn is one of the most international universities in Germany and Europe. This is confirmed by the British magazine Times Higher Education (THE) in its recently published university ranking according to internationalization criteria.
According to the British survey, the University of Bonn (total rank: 48) places second German university after the Free University of Berlin (total rank: 44) and ranking ahead of the Humboldt University Berlin, the Technical University Munich and the University of Heidelberg. Bonn also leads the Northrhine-westfalian universities and is followed by RWTH Aachen University (13th place of the German universities, total: 84) and Münster (15th place, total: 111).
The ranking was mainly based on the number of international employees, students and joint publications with foreign working groups. In addition, parameters were used to describe the international reputation of the universities.
International atmosphere
Rector Prof. Dr. Michael Hoch was delighted with the good performance of his university: “The good evaluation by THE reflects what one can feel day by day within the University of Bonn: Students and scientists from more than 130 countries contribute significantly to the internationality of our university.”
Professor Dr. Conermann, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, regards the efforts of the University of Bonn to strengthen its international relations. “Internationality is of strategic importance to us. This is why we want to expand our very good contacts in research and teaching with university partners all over the world in the coming years.”
